Media Manager, China

Right now, We are currently looking for a strategic and results-driven China Media Manager to lead the planning, execution, and optimization of media strategies across digital and traditional channels in China.
What you’ll do:
The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in the Chinese media landscape, strong relationships with media partners, and a track record of managing high-impact campaigns that drive brand awareness, engagement, and business results. The role will require deep cooperation with local market stakeholders across Marketing, Sales, Operations and eCom. The position is based in Shanghai, China and reports to the China Marketing Manager, currently based in Shenzhen, China.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Media Strategy & Planning
Develop and implement comprehensive media strategies tailored to the China market, aligned with global and regional marketing objectives.
Lead media planning across digital (e.g. WeChat, Weibo, Douyin, Xiaohongshu,Netease Music, Aiqiyi, JD Media, Tmall, Tencent Ads) and traditional (TV, OOH) channels.
Campaign Management
Oversee end-to-end campaign execution, from briefing and creative asset coordination to launch and performance analysis.
Collaborate with creative, PR, and sales teams to ensure message consistency across all platforms.
Agency & Vendor Management
Manage media buying agencies and local partners, ensuring performance, budget efficiency, and contract compliance.
Negotiate with media platforms to secure optimal placements, rates, and value-added opportunities.
Analytics & Optimization
Track KPIs and campaign performance using industry tools and internal dashboards.
Deliver post-campaign reports and insights; optimize future campaigns based on data.
Market Intelligence & Trends
Stay ahead of media consumption trends, platform algorithm changes, and consumer behaviour in China.
Advise internal teams on best practices and innovation in the local media ecosystem
Team Management
Lead and manage Digital media team in Shenzhen
Who we’re looking for:
•Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field; MBA is a plus.
•7+ years of experience in media planning or marketing in China, preferably with multinational or consumer brands.
•In-depth knowledge of China's media landscape, including major platforms, publishers, and media regulations.
•Experience managing significant media budgets and delivering measurable ROI.
•Strong project management, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
•Fluent in Mandarin and English, both written and spoken.
•Experience in working within a matrix organization structure, across internal business units and external agency and media partners
You probably have the following experiences & skills:
•Experience with programmatic advertising, digital media buy in China.
•Strong understanding of China’s digital media landscape, especially paid media on platforms such as JD, Tmall, Douyin, Xiaohongshu, Bilibili, Tencent, and WeChat.
•Background working in global brands in following sectors like luxury, beauty, CE, Tech or FMCG is a strong plus
•Familiarity with omnichannel strategy—integrating online and offline media for performance and brand-building.
•Experience managing agencies and large media budgets
•Strong analytical mindset and ability to interpret campaign data into actionable recommendations.
•Proficiency in data analytics tools (e.g. iResearch, QuestMobile, Alimama, or proprietary tools from Tencent/Bytedance).
