What you’ll do:
The Legal Counsel, IP & Brand Protection, China will be responsible for overseeing IP and Brand Protection for the Marshall Group on the Chinese and Hong Kong market. The role will report to the global Legal Director, IP & Brand Protection.
Roles & Responsibilities:
As a project leader, own all channel marketing aspects of our offline SIS projects. Lead the team to achieve.
The Legal Counsel, IP & Brand Protection, China will have the following key responsibilities within its areas of responsibility:
- In alignment with the Legal Director, IP & Brand Protection, set and implement the strategy and prioritizations for and drive a world-class brand protection and anti-counterfeiting program to reduce infringements online and offline against the Marshall Group’s rights in Chinese mainland and Hong Kong,China including partnering with online platforms, investigators, law enforcement, government authorities, customs, and outside counsel to combat the visibility, distribution and manufacturing of counterfeit products.
- Proactively manage the Group’s China IP portfolios in accordance with IP strategies and as required for brand activity and enforcement.
- Provide IP advice and counselling, as well as IP and Brand Protection related contractual drafting, reviewing, and negotiations.
- Monitor online sales data, search for counterfeit leads, manage test purchases and co-ordinate authenticity checks
- Coordinate external legal contacts in Chinese mainland and Hong Kong, China in the area of IP & Brand Protection and manage budget.
- Build relationships with other brands for the purpose of joint enforcement and lobbying actions in Chinese mainland and Hong Kong, China.
- Recommend proactive and preventive measures to better utilize available business opportunities and reduce the Marshall Group’s exposure from a legal and financial perspective in Chinese mainland and Hong Kong, China.
- Ensure that Marshall Group’s legal responsibilities in Chinese mainland and Hong Kong, China are met.
- Educate and train other departments in IP and Brand Protection and to understand and meet legal requirements.
- Contribute to legal innovation to improve work processes and ensure proper administration and maintenance of documentation, etc.
- The work will include travel and can at times require overtime.

You probably have the following experiences & skills:
- Highly skilled and professional individual with a university law degree.
- 3-4 years’ post graduate experience of similar work as an in-house legal counsel for a corporation, preferably combined with previous years in a law firm, in China.
- Fluency in Mandarin and English
- Specialised in IP management.
- Experience working with iconic brands.
- Specialised in Brand Protection, with specific experience from online and offline enforcement and anti-counterfeiting in China.
- Experience of working in an international context.
